New Zealand’s biosecurity rules mean bonsai cannot be imported, so everything in a New Zealand collection has been grown here. That is a real constraint, but it also means we have a small group of growers, potters and suppliers who know exactly what works in our conditions. Buy from them.
This is a directory, not a shop. Every business here handles its own sales, shipping and support, and Aotearoa Bonsai takes no cut and has no commercial relationship with any of them. Listings are free. If you sell bonsai, pots, tools or tuition in New Zealand and you are not here, tell us and you will be added.
Also worth knowing
Club sales tables and the vendor area at the NZ Bonsai Expo are often the best place to find unusual material and secondhand pots at sensible prices. Club members also sell and swap among themselves, which is one more reason to join one. General garden centres carry bonsai from time to time, though the trees are usually young nursery stock rather than trained material.
