Bonsai in Aotearoa
Find a club, learn the craft, and grow better trees in New Zealand conditions.
One place for bonsai in New Zealand
Aotearoa Bonsai gathers the things New Zealand growers actually need: a directory of clubs around the motu, practical guides written for our climate rather than the northern hemisphere, a calendar of shows and meetings, and tools like the substrate calculator. Whether you have just repotted your first juniper or you have been refining trees for decades, there is something here for you.
Find your local club
Clubs meet all over the country, from Whangārei to Invercargill. Most welcome complete beginners, and many have trees, tools and know-how you can borrow while you find your feet.
Guides for our conditions
Species notes, substrate mixes and seasonal advice adapted to New Zealand growing conditions, so you are not working backwards from advice written for a northern winter.
What is on
Club meetings, workshops, shows and demonstrations from around the country, pulled together into one calendar you can actually plan around.
Save the date
